Sunetra Pawar has resigned from her Rajya Sabha seat, just two days after a major victory in the Baramati assembly bypoll. She won by a record margin of over 2 lakh votes. Pawar became a Rajya Sabha member in June 2024, and she had been sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra on January 31.
Vote counting is underway for by-elections across seven assembly seats spanning Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tripura, and Nagaland. With results expected today, the spotlight remains on Baramati, where Sunetra Pawar is widely expected to win. Other contests in Karnataka, Gujarat, Nagaland, and Tripura were triggered after sitting MLAs passed away.
