JD(U) has named Shrawon Kumar as its legislative party leader in Bihar, following a move by party legislators to authorize national president Nitish Kumar to make the appointment. Kumar, a long-time associate of Nitish Kumar and a seventh-term MLA from Nalanda, is from the Kurmi community, a significant OBC group in Bihar.
JD(U) has decided to give the Chief Minister’s post in Bihar to BJP, saying the move reciprocates support the alliance partner had provided earlier. The new government, led by Samrat Choudhary, will seek a vote of confidence, with the NDA holding a strong majority. The administration plans to continue along Nitish Kumar’s governance lines.

JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar approved a refreshed list of national office bearers, naming a new vice president and retaining key roles like national working president Sanjay Kumar Jha and treasurer Alok Kumar Suman. The headline absence is Kumar’s son Nishant, who was not included in the appointments, while several prominent leaders were elevated as general secretaries and national secretaries.
